Abstract

Education and culture are something that can not be avoided in everyday life, because education and culture are a whole and comprehensive unit that applies in a society. Culture and education are two elements that are interrelated with one another. Culture with many aspects will support education programs and implementation. Therefore, there is an approach that can be used to explain the reality of the relationship between local culture and school mathematics, commonly called ethnomatematics. The aim of this research is to describe AdonaraEthnomatematics in School Mathematics Learning. In this study, researchers used explorative qualitative research to explore, identify, and describe various mathematical knowledge in Adonara culture. The subjects in this study were the woven cloth craftsmen, nyiru woven craftsmen and the teacher of the mathematics subject at PALUGODAM Middle School. The study began in March 2020 until April 2020. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used were observation data analysis and interview data analysis. In addition, data analysis during the field and data analysis after the data is collected. The results showed that there are geometrical concepts that exist in woven fabric and woven nyiru, among others; rhombus which has 4 sided size, then all 4 sides have 16 penets, parallelograms that have 4 sizing and 3 penetrotees, equilateral triangles having 7 sizing sides, then all 3 sides have 21 pens, and regular hexagons that have 5 sides of lontar leaves. Thus ethnomatemics on woven fabric motifs and matting can be used as learning media based on local culture and learning resources for students at school, so students do not have difficulty in understanding mathematics learning in schools especially geometry material.
